The Ninevites is a design studio and collaborative platform founded by Nkuli Mlangeni-Berg, we make beautiful things, inventive designs with made-to-be-touched textures.
Gorgeous objects that take pride of place in discerning homes.

But it’s more than that.

We’re telling a story too. Of black culture and unheard voices. Of age-old traditions in a modern context.

Of heritage and handicraft.

Life, culture, collaboration and inspiration, gathering threads from across the continent and weaving them all into one beautiful story.

Our textiles are meticulously handcrafted by artisans in the Cape and Lima using 100% South African-grown mohair and Peruvian sheep wool. Empowered by their handicraft, these artisans hand spin and dye the raw fibre using trusted techniques to ensure exceptional quality and durability.

The bold, geometric patterns are inspired by traditional patterns in African basketry, pottery, murals and beading to express the untold stories of indigenous Southern African craft in vivid, visceral form.

Our mohair is sourced from the Eastern Cape farms that are monitored under the South African Mohair supervision, it is both durable and resilient, and notable for its high luster and sheen soft and luxurious fibre. It feels lush and soft underfoot.

It is the fleece of the Angora goat, and it’s one of the world’s most beautiful sustainable natural fibres.

It is warm in winter and has excellent insulating properties, while remaining cool in summer due to its moisture absorbing properties.
